Last night I went to the 7:05 showing of Where the Wild Things Are, and although it was a Tuesday night, the theater was full. I’m happy to say that I didn’t cry, nor even tear up. Watching the preview for the film did however make me tear up. I’m blaming this on the song featured, ‘Wake Up’  by The Arcade Fire.

The movie was sweet. At time it was happy, and at others, sad. The story focuses on a lonely kid who ends up having a fight with his sister and mom. He runs away, and this is where the wild things come in.

Relationships are a big theme in the movie, it hints at the dynamics between friends, family and ‘significant others’.

Overall, I liked it a lot. It was a strange movie, but that was only to be expected. The ending was successfully bittersweet - happy and sad.
